3R Practice Principles - Changing to become Green Citizens

3R Practice Principles - Changing to become Green Citizens

3R practices refer to three commonly used terms regarding waste reduction practices: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle in which Reduce is to reduce the amount of waste each individual creates; Reuse: find a way to reuse waste, not throw it away; Recycle: find new ways to use waste to create new products for life. With the message "Time for Go Green" of 2023, UEH wants to spread the habit of green life that is good for health and the environment to UEHers.

Reduce:

One of the problems of 21st-century society is the resistance to a fast and convenient consumer culture. There are so many products we use just once, throw them in the waste bin, and send them to the landfill, which implies that the problem is not about buying products, but about learning how to reduce wasteful consumption at home, at work, and at school to create a greener, cleaner and more beautiful environment. UEH wishes to proactively empower UEHer to take action to become green citizens through the practice of Reduce - the first R in the 3R practice principle to move forward together to practice a green lifestyle.

Reuse:

Schools are one of the places that create a large amount of waste. Recognizing that, UEH has applied the second R in the 3R practice principle of Reuse to reduce the amount of waste produced. prolongs the life of products while increasing their value. This step may be small; nevertheless, it makes an important contribution to waste management to promote UEHers towards practicing a green lifestyle on campus.

Recycle:

Natural resources are being depleted and landfills are being filled at an ever-increasing rate. Our current production, consumption and disposal systems have become unsustainable. Besides reducing the amount of waste generated and reusing existing materials, recycling is also one of the ways to help regenerate resources to minimize the exploitation of raw materials. Recycling is the last R in the 3R practice principle that UEH would like to share with you as well as the actions that UEHer can take today to recycle our items to contribute to building a Green Campus.

Recyclable waste properly classified at UEH Go Green Station will be directly connected by UEH with recycling partners and transported for processing.

Each specific type of waste will be processed in appropriate forms as well as collected and recycled by specialized waste treatment partners, turning waste into new resources with new uses.
