Overview of the Seminar
The Law on Higher Education 2019 has allowed for the widespread implementation of university autonomy; however, such practice still sees countless challenges and limitations. As a result, the Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children (the Committee) has planned to host the Vietnam Education Conference 2020 (VEC 2020) with emphasis on this very topic. This is a huge opportunity and great forum for Congress and several Management entities to discuss and strategize for the implementation of university autonomy while also proposing solutions to refine these policies and regulations on university ownership.
Attending the Seminar, on the side of the Standing Committee, there was the presence of Assoc. Prof. Phan Thanh Binh, Ph.D. - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Chairman of the Committee, PhD. Pham Tat Thang - Vice Chairman of the Committee; Mr. Ta Van Ha - Standing member of the Committee. The Seminar was attended by leading experts, managers of higher education institutions in the Southern area.
The seminar revolved around the current shortcomings and problems regarding the implementation of university autonomy (academic, finance, human resources; legal system), all of which served as the basis to decide on contents to be discussed at VEC 2020.
