The last year continued to be an impressively successful year of the school. UEH has officially restructured to become a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University, marking the birth of 3 member colleges. Initially transforming into a University model with new strategies and management methods in the process of being perfected, UEH still maintains its inherent development momentum and achieves encouraging results in training, research, community connection, school operation, and administration. UEH and UEH Vinh Long Campus have gradually stabilized, actively contributing to increasing UEH's influence on the domestic and international higher education map. UEH is ranked in the Top 401+ best universities in Asia according to QS Asia University Rankings 2023 (increased by 150 places compared to 2022).
In 2023, for all activities of the university to guarantee quality and efficiency and to successfully restructure UEH into a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable university, the Party Committee and the Board of Management requested all units in the university to focus on performing several essential tasks as follows:
1. In terms of training activities
- Developing a flexible enrollment plan, ensuring the enrollment target is met as planned, and attracting good/talented students.
- Synchronizing enrollment and training activities at all levels to improve the university's training efficiency.
- Making key investments and taking firm steps to develop new multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary training programs/disciplines to meet society's demands for high-level human resources.
- Strengthening cooperation, connecting the participation of enterprises in training and research activities.
2. In terms of quality inspection
- Implementing quality improvement solutions at the training program and educational institution levels according to the recommendations of FIBAA.
- Implementing an internal quality assurance (IQA) system to ensure that the school's training quality is sustainable.
- Researching to improve training programs, increase the distinctive value of UEH's training programs, focus on developing core values of UEH students who are willing to work, socially conscious and capable global citizens responding to the market to all changing factors, and having a lifelong learning mindset.
- Continuing to improve the training management model and promoting assessment, accreditation, and quality assurance according to international standards.
3. In terms of scientific research - international cooperation
- Promoting applied research to serve the community. Applied research, technology transfer, and innovation must create positive impacts on solving social problems and challenges of sustainable development.
- Strengthening connection and cooperation with Research Fellowships (RF) with high H-index; implementing policies to attract RFs to participate in teaching, guiding Ph.D. students, and organizing international seminars.
- Enforcing academic integrity policy, ensuring the sustainable development of academic activities and UEH's academic reputation. Focused investment in research excellence to ensure long-term and sustainable university rankings.
- Expanding international cooperation network, improving academic reputation, and maintaining UEH QSA ranking. Preparing the necessary conditions to participate in THE rankings (Times Higher Education).
4. Increasing social impacts
- UEH is committed to the university's social responsibility towards the community.
- Deploying UEH's detailed plan of sustainability, helping UEHers realize and pursue their goals of contributing to a more sustainable society.
- Enhancing the academic reputation and position of UEH's knowledge influence on the development of society.
5. School administration and restructuring
- Continuing to improve the school's organizational and management apparatus according to the university model. Focusing on promoting the synergistic strength of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City in training, scientific research, operation, administration, and community connection.
- Completing the OKRs evaluation system streamlined and associated with the main work results of the units, lecturers, officials, and employees.
- Continuing to invest in digital infrastructure development; accelerating digital transformation in school administration; deploying digital platforms to enhance digital teaching and learning.
- Investing in human resource development and nurturing young talents at UEH.
- Building the UEHer community into a unified block.
The Party Committee and Board of Directors hope that lecturers and school administrators will make continuous efforts in the new year of 2023 and unite to perform well the tasks of the school year, especially the successful restructuring to establish a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University. Together, they will make a significant difference to UEH, marking an important step forward for UEH in the development of the new structure.
