On the morning of April 8, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) cooperated with Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee to organize the opening ceremony of the Master’s Program specializing in Smart and Innovative City Management for the Province’s managers. Besides, on the morning of April 9, at Khanh Hoa Continuing Education Center, UEH and the Department of Education and Training implemented the training program "Teaching STEM" for high school teachers and students in 2023 in Khanh Hoa Province, continuing to concretize and implement cooperation contents between Khanh Hoa Province and UEH.
Attending the opening ceremony, on behalf of UEH , there were: Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh – UEH President; Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President of UEH; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairwoman of UEH Strategy and Policy Advisory Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Viet Tien - Director of UEH Graduate School; Dr. Trinh Tu Anh - Director of the Institute of Smart City and Management.
On behalf of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, there were Mr. Dinh Van Thieu - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Vo Hoan Hai - Commissioner of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Education and Training; Mr. Vo Chi Vuong - Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Home Affairs; Mr. Pham Duy Loc - Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Information and Communications; Mr. Chau Ngo Anh Nhan - Deputy Director in charge of Khanh Hoa Department of Planning and Investment; Ms. Le Thi My Binh - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Council of Khanh Hoa University, together with 38 students who are currently cadres, civil servants and public employees of the Province and have passed the entrance exam for the first round of the Master’s training in 2023 of UEH.

The Master’s Program in Smart and Innovative City Management is the second Master’s program under the Khanh Hoa Provincial Human Resource Development Program for the period 2021-2025, co-organized by the Provincial People’s Committee and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) held in Khanh Hoa Province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dinh Van Thieu - Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee - affirmedsaid: "The organization of a Master's program in Smart and Innovative City Management in Khanh Hoa aims to create convenience for officials and employees, civil servants and public employees working at agencies and units in the Province participated in the study. Therefore, students need to make efforts to arrange their time to both successfully complete their tasks and participate in serious and substantial studies, ensuring the completion of the study program with the highest results, contributing to improving the quality of performance in each working position, making practical contributions to the socio-economic development of the province.”

On behalf of the leaders of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh – UEH President - remarked: "With the desire to contribute to the development of Khanh Hoa Province in particular and the country in general through training high-quality human resources, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City has been implementing training programs for local strategic leaders, managers and executives to improve their capacity, contributing to economic development towards the goal of sustainable development. With the Master’s Program in Smart and Innovative City Management implemented by UEH, it will provide important knowledge and skills for Khanh Hoa’s cadres, civil servants and public employees to prepare for the planning, managing and operating a smart and modern city in the future”. At the same time, he also demands learners to arrange their work, to ensure class time and requirements of the subject, to increase self-study and work in groups to achieve high results in learning, thereby, serving their work and contributing to local development.

According to the plan, in 2 academic years, students of the Master's program in Smart and Innovative City Management will complete 60 training credits with many important contents listed as :New City Economics and city marketing; City structure theory; Ecological planning in smart cities; Urban data analysis and calculation; Leadership and digital transformation; City intelligence and sustainability measurement and so on.

Previously, in July 2022, UEH launched a Master's program in Public Management for 61 students who are officials, civil servants and public employees working in the Province.
Besides, on the morning of April 9, 2023, the UEH Global Project also implemented the training program "Teaching STEM for high school teachers and students in Khanh Hoa province in 2023". This is a non-profit project aiming at sharing and transferring digital transformation experiences in teaching and learning activities for high schools with the desire to work with school partners to improve transformation capacity in the field of education, contributing to spreading knowledge towards sustainable development.

STEM education is an idea-based curriculum that equips learners with knowledge and skills relevant to the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics - in an interdisciplinary approach, and learners can apply them to solve problems in life. The knowledge and the skills in the STEM education program must be integrated and complement each other, helping students not only understand basic knowledge but also be able to apply it to practice and to create new products in everyday life.

For high school students, the study of STEM subjects has a positive effect on the ability to choose a career in the future. When learning many types of knowledge in an integrated body, students will actively enjoy learning, instead of being afraid or avoiding a certain area. On that basis, it will encourage them to have a better orientation when choosing a major at higher education levels and create certainty for their future career. Students who are taught in the STEM educational approach have outstanding advantages listed as solid science, engineering, technology and math knowledge; creative ability, logical thinking; outstanding academic and work performance and the opportunity to develop more comprehensive soft skills while not feeling burdened or overloaded for students.
