Smart City Institute - "Shaping the future" from a series of international events

Launched in early July 2020 and expected to be completed by the end of this September, the series of events “Shaping the Unknown Future Toward Smart city” is being held by ISCM, in coordination with partners who are universities, domestic and international organizations. The event features many competitions and discussions that are expanded globally.

Activities taking place in the midst of the epidemic COVID-19 are held online with limited audience. There are the participation and sharing from management, education and business units, as well as speakers from Asia - Europe - America and Asia - Pacific. In particular, the series of events see the pandemic as a typical example of an uncertain future that requires a certain amount of flexibility and creativity from society for adaptation and development. The following activities are happening:

1. Design contest "Future City: Smart Design for Post Pandemic World"

This is an online design contest of an international scale for students from nearly 400 universities worldwide. "Future City: Smart Design for Post Pandemic World" is a playground for students to express ideas of designing smart cities for the post-pandemic COVID-19 world.

2. Online International Summer Camp: "Smart Design Thinking to Lead Post Pandemic Urban Future"

International Studio is an educational activity for students from three countries Vietnam, Korea and Myanmar, creating a new design-thinking playground for the post-pandemic city, thereby finding and preparing for the most vulnerable groups before and after the pandemic. Each country chooses a theme and in Ho Chi Minh City, the Institute chooses ‘traditional markets’ - the most vulnerable place in the uncertain future.

3. Exhibition and Workshop: "Smart Future City"

The exhibition and workshop taking place from September 12-28, 2020 will be a place to show outstanding products from competitions as well as to display ISCM products from the series of events such as R2S platform, Smart Travel app or VR product ...

4. Smart city - Webinar

There will be 4 seminars and 1 talkshow in a series of online events around basic and interesting issues about "smart city", from now until the end of September 2020.

Issues discussed are mainly about solutions to urban problems in Vietnam (Smart City - Urban Problem-Solving for Vietnam) which took place on August 26; about sketching a global overview of the future "Future Outlook" (September 22) with an architectural and urban planning perspective; about how to apply technology and AI for a long-term education; to create sustainable traffic safety integrated with the issue of Gender and Gender Equality "Substainable Transport Safety" (September 23); about the "Innovative approach" (September 24) to support clean agriculture with smart testing machines or to convert education with online applications and VR technology; about building urban areas at universities within the city, country and in the world "Smart Campus Planing - Toward Satellite City & College Town" (September 25).

5. ISCM Launching

This series of events will end with the official launch of the Institute of Smart City and Management (ISCM) and the awarding of the Future City online design competition "ISCM Launching Agenda". At the same time, this will also be an event to help affirm the institute’s position and role while introducing many of activities, learning programs as well as main products developed by the Institute.
