On January 29, 2021, the School of Banking, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City has organized a research seminar with the topic "How to write an applied economics research paper"? Experience in publishing) at Room B1.204. This is the opening seminar for the 2021 Series of research seminars of the School of Banking (SOB's Research Seminar - SRS 2021) to create a forum for exchanging and learning scientific research and international publication experiences.
The speaker of the first seminar in 2021 was Mr. Huynh Luu Duc Toan - currently being the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of JABES magazine of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and being a member of the editorial boards of prestigious international journals such as Journal of Economic Asymmetries, Asia-Pacific Financial Markets, Economics and Business Letters and Post-Communist Economies. Huynh Luu Duc Toan, young though he is as a researcher, has many publications in prestigious international journals such as Energy Economics, Journal of Environmental Management, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Finance Research Letters, and Safety Science.. His research focuses on the areas of Behavioral Economics, Financial Economics and Behavioral Finance, Econometric Models and Machine Learning.
At the seminar, speaker Huynh Luu Duc Toan introduced an overview of research topics and trends in the economic-financial field from the 1990s up to now. In particular, the speaker shared his experience in the design and content development of the research paper. The speaker also introduced some new techniques in conducting academic research. According to Mr. Toan, the key to successful international publication is the spirit of not being afraid of difficulties and daring to engage in topics that have yet to be explored by many since only there will researchers seize the opportunity to explore and assert themselves.

One of the highlights of the seminar was the lively exchange between speakers and delegates. Questions were raised around topics about the structure of the research, tips for selecting international journals, and effective writing methods for the introduction and conclusion of the research, along with how to persuade the editorial and review boards of international scientific journals. The author's sincere and enthusiastic answers closed the first research seminar in the SRS2021 Seminar Series of the School of Banking - University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City.
