Within the framework of cooperation between the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) provide off-campus cross-cultural experiences and offering new learning opportunities and experiences. UEH is pleased to welcome a delegation of lecturers and students from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland to exchange and implement “Sustainable Entrepreneurship for Economic Development – SEED” project from July 19, 2023 to July 29, 2023.
Following the success of the SEED 2022, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland co-organized the Sustainable Entrepreneurship for Economic Development – SEED 2023 with the goal of sustainable development, applying technology to develop agricultural areas with sustainable entrepreneurship and corporate social responsibility in Lam Dong province.
Here, the delegation of lecturers and students can visit, observe, interview and learn about economic development in general, especially about the development of hi-tech agriculture, cultivation,.... The students listened to householders, business owners and local officials on issues such as the current status and difficulties of the agricultural economy, policies supporting books, helping to deploy technology, developing directions for agricultural products or industries in the future, etc. From there, students have a more realistic view of the development of local high-tech agriculture, helping students understand the meaning and role of determining development strategies, applying high technology to improve productivity, quality and competitiveness of agricultural products, and ensuring the sustainable development of Vietnam's agricultural economy.
To prepare for the project, FHNW students and UEH students have the opportunity to study new knowledge, business models and the entrepreneurship environment in Vietnam under the guidance of UEH lecturers, FHNW and University Malaysia Kelantan lecturers. The speakers also integrated the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) thereby providing improved thinking, attitudes and orientation for the students to know what to care about and how to do it, protect the earth from human impacts, and improve the quality of life of each person. Moreover, students also learn more about accounting - finance knowledge, entrepreneurship knowledge from the representative speaker from ICEAW and Survival Skills.
Beside the study time, the delegation also visited the city, enjoyed food and had interesting experiences with traditional Vietnamese culture such as making To-he, and writing calligraphy and other typical art and culture in Lam Dong province. At the end of the field trip, groups of students will present ideas and proposed business models with suggestions and evaluations from professors and experts.
The SEED 2023 project is officially closed, the students were trained in social entrepreneurship and management, enabling them to experience and learn to operate interculturally and in new socio-cultural contexts as entrepreneurs, strategists, and leaders to bring about sustainable economic development through their enterprising efforts at the community. The cohesion and teamwork together help students to exchange about academic issues and also social issues of each country to understand more about your country. From here, each of you also fosters more realistic perspectives on the model of global citizenship.
