On November 7, 2022, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) held the ceremony of officially handing over a Cooperation Agreement (MOU) with the City University of Seattle, US after the Covid-19 pandemic.
On behalf of UEH, there were: Prof. Su Dinh Thanh - UEH President; Dr. Pham Duong Phuong Thao - Vice Head of the Department of Research Management and International Cooperation; Dr. Nguyen Tan Trung – Head of Administration office; Dr. Ngo Quang Huan - Dean of School of Management; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thi Thanh - Vice Dean of School of Managemet, Mr. Diep Quoc Bao, MSc - Vice Dean of School of Managemet and the joint program management team of School of Management and CityU Seattle.
On the side of CityU Seattle, USA, there were: Mr. Randy Frisch - Rector of CityU University; Mr. Denny Dang - Program Director in Vietnam, Senior Consultant of CityU University; Ms. Dieu Vu - Program Manager in Vietnam.
To open the ceremony, Prof. Su Dinh Thanh stated: “UEH's goal is to become a leading multi-disciplinary and sustainable university with a reputation in training, research, and scientific consulting in economics, finance, business, management, and technology for business and economics in Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and Asia. Therefore, enhancing international partnerships with our distinguished partners has been one of our keys focuses over the past few years. According to our agreement, we focus on cooperating with our Bachelor of Science in Business Administration as a one-way pathway for UEH students to gain a full BSC degree at CityU. Therefore, the signing of the MOA between the two institutions symbolizes a strong partnership which we firmly believe will lead to great academic value for both sides and open wide opportunities for UEH's students.”
After discussion and agreement, UEH and CityU have signed a memorandum of understanding on training cooperation in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021 with the expectation of expanding many study options for UEH students.
During the minutes handing ceremony, Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Phuong - representative of the joint program management team presented the results after one year of implementation, specifically:
• Students will study at UEH for 2.5 - 3 years and study at CityU for the next 1 year to achieve a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from CityU.
• For the final year at CityU, students can choose to study face-to-face or online:
+ Option 1: Study abroad in Seattle, Washington state, the West coast of the United States. Students can study at CityU's campus in Vancouver, Canada if needed;
+ Option 2: Online learning. However, students can still study directly in the US for 1 quarter in the remaining academic year;
• Scholarship opportunities:
+ 5 scholarships worth $2,000 each for students studying in the US in 2022;
+ Students with GPA > 75% have the opportunity to receive a scholarship of 2,000 USD;
+ Students with GPA > 90% have the opportunity to receive a scholarship of 5,000 USD;
+ Students who register for dormitories for at least 6 months will have the opportunity to receive dormitory scholarships from 1,000 USD -1,500 USD.
