The online seminar "Accounting information security in the digital era" organized by the Faculty of Accounting, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), in collaboration with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Great Britain and Wales (ICAEW), officially took place on July 31, 2021. The seminar connected and brought new and practical experts from the EY Consulting VN and the Fam Central with lecturers and students of the Faculty of Accounting. It is also an event in the series of activities "Connecting the community - Spreading knowledge" of the Faculty of Accounting to celebrate the 45th anniversary of establishing the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City.
The workshop "Accounting information security in the digital era" with the participation of Dr. Tran Anh Hoa - Dean of Faculty of Accounting, Dr. Nguyen Phuoc Bao An – Vice Dean of Faculty of Accounting, Ms. Le Bich Tran – Market Development Manager of the Education Division of ICAEW VN, along with teachers and nearly 500 students of the Faculty of Accounting.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Dr. Nguyen Phuoc Bao An – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Accounting shared: “The development of Information Technology (IT) is closely related to the development of the accounting profession. IT knowledge and skills are especially important for learners, workers and researchers in the field of accounting. The Faculty of Accounting always creates every opportunity for knowledge interference between the two fields of IT and Accounting. Therefore, the seminar with two issues "Technology - Blockchain and Information Security" will be approached in a new and attractive way when considering the relevance, impact and influence on Accounting, and at the same time, presented from the perspective of experts from large enterprises. This useful and practical knowledge will help students shape their future career paths.”

The seminar started with the presentation of Mr. Cris Tran, Co-Founder and CEO of the Fam Central, ex-CEO Infinity Blockchain Ventures on Blockchain and its application in accounting and finance.
Following the program, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong, Manager Technology Risk & Cybersecurity Services, EY Consulting VN, shared new knowledge about the accounting information security mechanism that accounting and auditing practitioners need to equip to adapt to today's digital landscape.
Participating in the seminar, lecturers and students of the Faculty of Accounting had lively discussions around the transparency and reliability of accounting information in the blockchain application environment; objectives of risk management and security of accounting information; IT risk, and audit. At the same time, students have become more aware of the accounting and auditing profession changes in the current context and are better prepared for the success of their future careers.

Also, the seminar results helped the Faculty of Accounting confirm: The training program was completely revised with 02 majors in Accounting and Auditing with the appearance of many IT-related subjects (such as Accounting Information Security), Auditing information technology…) is completely suitable and asymptotic to the actual requirements of enterprises.
