On June 29, 2021, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) announced the establishment of the Mekong International Training Center under UEH Vinh Long Campus. It is considered a big step in the roadmap of becoming UEH's center for training, research, consulting, and social criticism in the Mekong Delta. Additionally, it's a part of UEH's long-term strategy, making Vinh Long Campus a regional university.

The University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City Vinh Long Campus (UEH Vinh Long Campus) was born and put into operation in January 2020. After more than a year of operation with many positive results, UEH Vinh Long Campus has gradually established and affirmed the image and brand in the university training institutions in the Mekong Delta and nationwide, from university, graduate training to short-term training, fostering activities and especially the implementation of international academic exchange and training programs.
On the morning of June 29, 2021, UEH announced the establishment of the Mekong International Training Center under UEH Vinh Long Campus. It is considered a big step in UEH's roadmap of becoming a center for training, research, consulting, and social criticism on economics, business, environmental research, and climate change in the Mekong Delta. In addition, the establishment of the Mekong International Training Center is also part of UEH's long-term strategy to develop the Campus into a regional university.
The conference to announce decision on organization and personnel of Mekong International Training Center
To achieve the goal by 2050 of Resolution 120/NQ-CP: The Mekong Delta will become a region with a relatively high level of development compared to the whole country, with an advanced level of social organization; having higher GDP than the national average, guaranteeing livelihoods for the people; the proportions of ecological agriculture and hi-tech application agriculture account for more than 80%, forest cover reached more than 9% (compared to 4.3% at present), important natural ecosystems are preserved and developed, … Human resources development, especially high-quality human resources, is a challenge for the development of the Mekong Delta. The establishment of the Mekong International Training Center is a positive signal for the strategy of training, linking, cooperation, and international integration to create closer linkages between the three sides: State - School - Employers in the process of human resource development for the Mekong Delta.
Besides promoting its strength as a prestigious short-term training and fostering center in the Mekong Delta region, during the past, the mission of Mekong International Training Center was to bring many quality international training programs for learners in the Mekong Delta. In 2021, the center will deploy the international bachelor's training program "Mekong Talent 100" for the period of 2021-2025, which is the practical training of 100 students of the Mekong Delta through the Australian - New Zealand Bachelor program of the world's excellent universities. Along with the main campus in Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong International Training Center will be a place for international student exchange, a base for receiving international experts and projects on research on the Mekong Delta, especially on issues of great global concern, such as climate change and high-tech agricultural development in the Mekong Delta.
In addition, the Center also performs the function of organizing short-term international training courses for human resources in the Mekong Delta, as well as teaching Vietnamese, culture, society, people, ... the potential of the Mekong Delta region for international students and experts.
