In the period of 2021-2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) determined to focus the activities of the University in the direction of reinforcing, strengthening the brand, enhancing the academic reputation, continuing to improve the training capacity of the faculty, improving the training quality, increasing the number of research activities, scientific publishing and expanding community service. Among these, quality assurance and quality accreditation at the educational institution level and training programs are the core factor in ensuring the university’s development.
Following the activities of reviewing and adjusting the training program, organizing training activities to develop output standards and quality assurance at the training program level implemented in 2020, UEH successfully organized the 2-day training on 20 and 21 January 2021 with the theme "Internal Quality Assurance System and Quality accreditation at the educational institution level according to international practices". The program’s lecturers come from the Center for Educational Testing and Quality Assessment and the Center for Educational Quality Accreditation of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.

This training session aims to support school leaders and other affiliates, members of the Quality Assurance Council to grasp the importance of building and operating an Internal Quality Assurance system (IQA) to meet the standard requirements at the educational institution level to be able to complete the IQA system and to best prepare for self-assessment, external assessment processes and educational institution-level accreditation according to international practices.
The training content revolved around topics: i) the role and the importance and quality assurance requirements in higher education institutions; ii) Institutional-level quality assessment criteria in terms of strategy, systems, functions and training results, scientific research and community service; iii) how to develop a strategy for implementing institution-level quality accreditation that meets international quality standards.
The speakers discussed with the school leaders and affiliates, members of the Quality Assurance Council about the functions and duties of the Quality Assurance department, Quality Assurance working groups in the higher education institutions; the role of the units and how to coordinate the implementation of self-assessment serving the quality accreditation of educational institutions; the importance of quality-assured information systems and quality policies at higher education institutions; and finally a method of building and implementing a system of monitoring tools, evaluation tools and quality assurance tools for the whole University.
The training session also had the participation and sharing of practical experiences of speakers from the International University and Bach Khoa University, an affiliate of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City on the process of organizing and operating the Internal Quality Assurance system (IQA) and the activities of organizing international self-assessment, external assessment, and international accreditation according to AUN-QA and HCERES standards.
After two days of active working, the session ended successfully, bringing valuable information and creating new dynamism for the leadership team and the Quality Assurance Council. This training is the start of a follow-up series of training activities and implementation of UEH's Quality Assurance activities in 2021 and beyond. These activities will be an essential basis for the University to achieve accreditation and quality acknowledgment according to international standards in the period 2021-2026.
