UEH organizing the Opening Ceremony of the Student Exchange Program at Universities of Economics - UEH Mekong Summer Camp 2023 at UEH - Vinh Long Campus

On the morning of June 26^th, 2023, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) held the Opening Ceremony of the Student Exchange Program of Universities and Institutes of Economics across the country at UEH - Vinh Long Campus.

The program took place from June 26, 2023 to July 28, 2023 with the theme "UEH Mekong Summer Camp 2023 - Global mind, local life", welcomed the participation of nearly 100 students from National Economics University, Banking Academy; Academy of Policy and Development; Thuong Mai University; University of Economics - University of Danang; Nha Trang University and students from UEH at the Ho Chi Minh City campuses. The opening ceremony was held in person at Vinh Long Campus (VLC) and online on Cisco Webex.

Attending the program, on behalf of UEH, there was the presence of Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairwoman of the Advisory Council; Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President of UEH cum Director of Vinh Long Campus; Dr. Dinh Thi Thu Hong - Vice President of UEH College of Business; Dr. Hoang Cuu Long - Vice Dean of School of International Business and Marketing - UEH College of Business; MSc. Dang Thai Thinh - Deputy Head of Information Technology Department; MSc. Nguyen Thi Thuong Nho - Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union; MSc. Vuong Khiet - Director of Incubator and Innovation Technology; MSc. Nguyen Thi Thy Lieu - Permanent Deputy Director of VLC together with lecturers in the Board of Directors and Leaders of Schools, Departments, Centers, Youth Union, and Student Association of VLC, especially with the presence of nearly 100 students from universities and academies across the country and 11 international students from National University of Singapore, Villanova University, Western Sydney University.

Overview of the Opening Ceremony

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President of UEH - congratulated on the students participating in Summer Camp 2023. He stated that this program would provide an opportunity to connect many students from different schools an international students. Students would study two modules: Logistic & Supply Chain Management and Simulation of International Business Projects from qualified and highly regarded teachers of UEH's teaching methods. At the same time, the students experienced the traditional Hackathon program of the University specializing in technology and participated in activities in the Mekong Delta region. Absolutely, these would be great experiences related to the land, the people and the specialties of the Mekong Delta. In addition, the students practiced their exchange and discovery skills with many activities of clubs, associations and groups at the Campus. Dr. Bui Quang Hung believed that with a month of Summer Camp, students would integrate into the UEH training environment and quality, fully equipped with capacity, skills and local thinking and action. He hoped that they would have good memories this summer when they join the Summer Camp program organized by UEH in collaboration with schools and especially in Vinh Long Province in the Mekong Delta.

At the Opening Ceremony, Vo Thi Thien An from University of Economics - Danang University - shared: “Our country is increasingly innovating and integrating; requirements for knowledge, capacity and human quality are getting higher and more comprehensive. The 4.0 Revolution opens up many opportunities but also many challenges. Therefore, today's generation of students not only cultivates a solid foundation of knowledge, but also cultivates the necessary social skills to confidently become a global citizen and meet the increasingly stringent requirements of employers. And with the Summer Camp 2023 program, we think, the program will create a great environment for us to hone and practice more of those things through interesting experiences with many learning activities, research, BizTech Hackathon, skills, training activities, volunteering activities, cultural exchanges, learning about cultural characteristics, diverse and rich regional characteristics." On behalf of the participants in the program, Thien An expressed her hope: “After a month of participating in the program, the students will gain for themselves valuable lessons, necessary skills and beautiful memories, an unforgettable mark in their university life. Those useful things will surely be extremely valuable luggage to help us gain more courage and strength to continue to cope and discover ourselves to become the most perfect versions."

Following the opening program, Mr. Dang Thai Thinh - Deputy Head of Department of Information Technology of UEH - shared information regarding the facilities to support students through technology applications for students to exploit and use listed as Smart Library, LMS, knowledge store, etc.

MSc. Ngo Dang Hoan Thien - Start-up Incubator project developer, Institute of Innovation - introduced BizTech Hakathon to help students understand the whole chain of activities with skills and knowledge, and find new technology application solutions to solve life's problems.

"UEH Mekong Summer Camp 2023" is an important event collaboratively held for the first time by economic institutions in the Mekong Delta region. Through this program, UEH wishes to provide students with many learning, research, and skill-training activities to improve themselves and incubate entrepreneurial thinking through a series of rich and diverse activities, along with clubs and the "Economic Student Volunteer Campaign" held in Vinh Long in the Mekong Delta.

The program "UEH Mekong Summer Camp 2023 - Global mind, local life" officially started with a lot of interesting things brought to the students in the next programs, UEH - Vinh Long Campus will continue to inform in the next newsletter.
