In the face of the fast-spreading Covid-19 pandemic, complicated developments and negative impacts on the socio-economic life of the whole country, with the spirit of mutual affection and profound humanistic tradition, all officials and students of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) have made many practical contributions to society to join hands to fight the pandemic. Furthermore, it is an effort to raise funds to support the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund and many other meaningful social and charity activities.
UEHers actively donates to the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund
Responding to the call of the Prime Minister to understand and share difficulties with the country during the period of negative impact due to the Covid-19 pandemic, from May 28th, 2021, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City has sent a letter calling on all teachers, officials, and employees working at the school to raise funds to support the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund.
With the spirit of mutual affection, leaving no one behind, and unanimously responding to the university’s call, UEHers together donated to the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund with a total budget of 550,000,000 VND.
From the recorded funds, UEH supported through the Ministry of Education and Training channel with a total amount of 250,000,000 VND. At the same time, we supported to Ho Chi Minh City's Covid-19 vaccine fund through the Ho Chi Minh City Front Committee for VND 200,000,000. The remaining, VND 100,000,000, was sent to support Vinh Long province, which is also facing many difficulties during the pandemic.

In the context that the pandemic is still complicated, the whole country is trying to prevent the disease and ensure economic development. In particular, there are still many people who are looking forward to receiving the Covid-19 vaccine. The university still constantly calls for the contribution of each other so that all people can soon have access to vaccines. This is an act of great significance at this time, showing humanity and promoting UEH's good traditions and culture.
UEH accompanies society through necessary actions
Not only contributing funds but the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City also carried out many other practical activities to support society in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Accompanying and sharing with students in the current difficult period, from July 2021, the university has implemented a support package for learners of all levels and training systems worth VND 25 billion. In addition, it includes a discount of 5% on tuition fees for the middle and final semesters of 2021 and 1000 scholarships to support learners affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. This is also the second year UEH has implemented this support program and the budget of more than 35 billion VND for the university's annual scholarship and study support policies.
According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the UEH Council: "This is the UEH’s share of the common hardships of learners in the context of the pandemic. We hope that all UEH students make efforts, overcome difficulties, and continue to accompany the university to complete their study plans. "
In Vinh Long, joining hands with provincial authorities and mass organizations to prevent pandemics, UEH Vinh Long Branch also supported 3.5 tons of rice for the districts, 10,000,000 VND in cash for communes affected by the pandemic, 1,000 eggs to participate in the “0 Dong stall” serving poor and needy people, donating 20 cartons of milk and 20 cartons of instant noodles to support Vinh Long Province General Hospital,…
Besides, with the health and spirit of youth, UEH students are also bringing meaningful messages, joining hands with the university and society to fight the Covid-19 pandemic. This year's volunteer campaign has attracted 1,250 UEH students to participate, with many practical activities being implemented, such as a project to support UEH students living in Ho Chi Minh City facing difficulties, including students in 2 UEH dormitories and a series of counseling and support programs to take care of mental health and psychology for students. Simultaneously, student volunteers at UEH Vinh Long Branch established the team "Economic students – Strike for the community during the COVID-19 pandemic" and implemented many meaningful activities such as: participate in the "Free kitchen" to serve meals for volunteers of the Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy and volunteers at control points; "Relay season program"; “Make 1,400 splash screens” and send it to the Vinh Long Department of Education and Training for the 2021 high school exam and the Department of Health and the Vinh Long Center for Disease Control; participate in campaigning and contribute to the "0 dong stall" for the poor launched by the Provincial Youth Union.
