University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) had the honor to receive delegates from Kyoto University (KU) on the morning of Oct 17, 2022. This is an official visit between Professor Kyoshi Kobayashi, Kyoto University Graduate School of Engineering and colleagues, with aspirations to promote bilateral research and cooperation opportunities in the field of urban planning and smart city management.
From UEH, those in attendance were: Dr. Bui Quang Hung - UEH Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao - Vice Rector of UEH College of Technology & Design (CTD) cum Head of Department of Undergraduate Training; Dr. Pham Duong Phuong Thao - Deputy Head of Department of Research Management & International Cooperation (RMIC); Dr. Trinh Tu Anh, Director of Institute of Smart City and Management (ISCM); and International Relations Executive of ISCM and RMIC.
Upon arrival, KU delegates toured the UEH E-History area, and were given a brief overview of the university’s history, vision, mission, core values and its development orientation towards a future multidisciplinary and sustainable UEH University.
Both parties then proceeded to highlight each other’s strengths and potential areas for collaboration, such as:
● Joint research in urban planning, smart city management; Act as guest speaker(s) for seminars/webinars organized by either institution
● Joint establishment of academic training programs on data analysis, applied technology in logistics; Developing double-degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels
● Conduct exchange programs and internship programs for KU students
Additionally, UEH and KU moved to actualize the partnership by building compatible projects & research programs. The current cooperation between UEH and KU will contribute to fostering strong connections toward comprehensive educational cooperation between the two universities in the future.
