University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMP) Ho Chi Minh City and University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) on University Council Activities

On the morning of December 15th, 2020, in the room A.205, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City organized a meeting with the delegation from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Ho Chi Minh City, who came to visit and share their experiences about the activities of their University Council.

Attending the meeting, on the side of the leaders of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Ho Chi Minh City, there was Assoc. Prof. Tran Diep Tuan - University Council President - Head of Organization and Personnel Department, Assoc. Prof. Chau Ngoc Hoa - Head of Supervisory Board, Prof. Le Quang Nghiem - Head of Academic and Professional Department, Assoc. Prof. Do Van Dung - Head of Finance and Assets Department, Assoc. Prof. Ngo Quoc Dat - Secretary of the Board of Directors, Assoc. Prof. Do Thi Hong Tuoi - Finance and Human Resources Department. On the side of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), there was the presence of Prof. Nguyen Dong Phong - Secretary of the UEH Communist Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council, Prof. Su Dinh Thanh – President, Prof. Nguyen Trong Hoai - Vice President, MSc. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - President of Advisory Council; Assoc. Prof. Ho Viet Tien - Director of the Graduate Training Institute - Secretary of the Board of Directors, Mr. Le Dong Du - Deputy Chief of the Office, MSc. Duong Minh Man - Deputy Head of Human Resource Management Department.

An overview of the meeting

At the meeting, representatives of leaders from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh shared the contents of the role of the University Council in the general activities of the University; the working relationship between Communist Party Committee, University Council, and Board of Management; decentralization and division between the University Council, Board of Management and affiliated units with the same functions of the Standing University Council and other practical experiences in the operation process.

Dr. Bui Quang Hung - UEH Vice President shared the contents about the University Council's role in UEH's general activities, the working relationship between the Communist Party Committee, the University Council, and the Board of Management.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ho Viet Tien presented functions of the Standing University Council

Sharing at the meeting, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of the University Council, said that the UEH University Council operates under the revised Higher Education Law and Decree 99. One of the new points of the UEH School Council is that there is a Standing University Council that has the authority to decide on matters authorized by the University Council, the Communist Party Committee, and the Board of Management are aware of doing work for the common development of the University; clear, transparent, and coordinated assignment and division; organize weekly briefings to monitor and closely direct school activities.

The visit and working session of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City has opened up many problems for the university council's operation of two units to be increasingly influential in the coming period.
