On the morning of December 7, 2023, a meeting and working session between the University of Economics of Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and Representatives of the Editorial Board of Saigon Businessman Magazine took place on the coordination plans to develop the Luong Van Can Award in particular and student start-up activities in general.
It is known that the Luong Van Can Award is an annual program organized by Saigon Businessman Magazine (formerly Saigon Businessman Newspaper) since 2011, to find and to nurture passionate students who have the qualities and potential to become talented businessmen in the future, thereby contributing to improving the competitiveness of Vietnamese businesses and developing Ho Chi Minh City's economy in particular and the country in general. In 2023, UEH has 4 excellent students in the top 20 students of the award Final Round: Nguyen Thi Hoang Dieu (K47); Nguyen Vo Thu Huong (K46); Vo Le Thao Nguyen, Nguyen Ngoc Thanh Nhan (K47).
On behalf of UEH, to welcome Saigon Businessman Magazine, there was the presence of Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Deputy Director of UEH; Associate Professor. Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairwoman of the UEH Policy and Strategic Advisory Council, Director of the Institute of Innovation; Mr. Truong Minh Kiet - Head of Department of Marketing and Communication; Mr. Nguyen Van Duong - Head of Department of Student Affairs (DSA); Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - Chief of Office of UEH College of Technology and Design (CTD-UEH). On behalf of Saigon Businessman Magazine, there was the participation of Mr. Tran Hoang - Editor-in-Chief of Saigon Businessman Magazine; Mr. Tran Manh Hung - Chief of Office; Ms. Phung Thi Ai Ly - Head of the Award Secretariat; Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Quyen - Award Secretary.
The meeting revolved around the implementation and development of the Luong Van Can Award for students and further coordination to support startup projects for students.

Sharing the spirit and the direction of the award, Mr. Tran Hoang - Editor-in-Chief of Saigon Businessman Magazine remarked "Positioned as a magazine of businessmen and for businessmen, we look forward to cooperation from schools to work together to bring practical values to students in developing startup and business ideas, especially with support policies for 4 students of the University of Economics of Ho Chi Minh City, who have excellently reached the Top 20 students in the Final Round of the Luong Van Can Award 2023. They all have business qualities. If they are trained and fostered, I think they will create good and feasible projects for the community in the future."

Within the framework of the working session, Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Deputy Director of UEH shared "UEH respectfully congratulates the Luong Van Can Award for spreading the value and spirit of business to students. On behalf of UEH, startup activities among students are always paid attention to and methodically invested in by the University through building and developing a startup incubator model according to international standards, and regularly organizing and encouraging students to participate in domestic and international business programs. The dynamism of UEH and its students has helped the Startup Incubator and Startup Club/Project at UEH gain many impressive achievements such as the Startup and Innovation Award (I-Star) in Ho Chi Minh City in 2021, ASIASTAR Awards in Asia in 2022, etc. Coming to the final round of the Luong Van Can Award, UEH will continue to accompany and support with professional knowledge and other resources to help the 4 contestants achieve the best results in the competition".

Along with that, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - Chief of Office of CTD-UEH - detailed startup activities at UEH through practical activities of Innovation Startup Incubator projects, including 1-1 mentoring programs, consulting with experts or training programs, and especially in-depth competitions for students to experience, unleash their creativity, and express their passion for business.
Through the sharing of representatives of the two units, it has shown the interest, investment and development of students' start-up ideas and projects. During the meeting, representatives of Saigon Businessman Magazine awarded certificates to 4 UEH students who advanced to the final round. As they entered the final round, they would be able to participate in a 2-year course including theory and practice and in the final round to defend the business proposal before the Award Council.

With frank and open sharing and exchange, the meeting took place extremely effectively. Hopefully, after the meeting, UEH and Saigon Businessman Magazine will have useful activities, bringing practical values to the student community in general and UEH students in particular.
