On November 6, 2023, a class session entitled "Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Innovation" presented by Dr. Paul Finn from the University of Sydney was held with the participation of 35 students majoring in International Business and Logistics Supply Chain Management. This was an activity within the framework of the educational cooperation agreement between the University of Sydney and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH).
The lesson took place entirely in English, giving UEH students the opportunity to experience a world-leading educational environment in the classroom. The goal of the lesson is to help them understand the foundation and the relationship between entrepreneurship and innovation, the concept of entrepreneurship, and skills and qualities of creativity related to business, as well as research fields that can help them shape their future career. Overall, the lesson went smoothly and interestingly, gradually giving them a feeling of global integration.
Creating an "Australian standard" learning environment
Mr. Paul Finn's warm and friendly welcome created a positive atmosphere for the lesson right from the start. At the end of the session, the lecturer expressed his gratitude, gave positive compliments about the lesson, and especially promised to meet again in the future. Dr. Paul Finn, UEH lecturers, and students took photos together to preserve these beautiful memories. This not only showed the teacher's appreciation for the environment and UEH students but also increased confidence and motivation for them when considering studying in a foreign environment.
Throughout the lesson, the lecturer elaborated the definitions of "Innovation" and "Startup", creating a bond between him and the students and provoking related thoughts about "Innovation" and "Startup" to create a premise for going deeper into new theoretical knowledge. The combination of images, graphics and colors increased the eye-catching nature of the lecture and attracted the interest of the students.
With a positive and highly proactive learning atmosphere, UEH students showed a serious attitude towards the lecturer and the lecture through their concentration and interesting questions for the lecturers and the discussions providing ideas and building the lesson. Through this, it can be seen that Dr. Paul Finn created a vibrant and comfortable learning environment to help the students absorb knowledge better without feeling lost or bored during the lesson.
